How to Treat Dandruff

Dandruff weakens the hair strands which can result in the loss of your life time and premature fall.

How to Treat Dandruff

The dandruff is the result of an irritation on the scalp and is caused by small particles that exist in hair follicles: the pityrosporum ovale.

These particles exist naturally in the body, however, when they multiply they cause inflammation and consequent flaking, or dandruff.

WHAT IS DANDRUFF?

Every fourteen days, the cells of the scalp are renewed, and are eliminated in the form of scales, which is imperceptible, however, if affected by certain factors, this renewal is accelerated and results in films of cells killed, or dandruff.

This separates into two types, dry and oily, which exhibit the following symptoms:

SYMPTOMS OF DANDRUFF DRY

Dandruff dry is white in color, small, stays, and falls down on the shoulders, as if they were tiny flakes of snow.

Can cause irritation and itching.

SYMPTOMS OF DANDRUFF OILY

The dandruff on oily skin has a yellow tone, is larger and thicker than the previous one and paste to the scalp and the hair. Can cause irritation and itching.
When dandruff is accompanied by irritation or itching, it is natural that stir more frequently in the hair to relieve the symptoms, however, this action only exacerbates the production of dandruff. As soon as you notice any of the above symptoms, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist to, before you start treatment.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF DANDRUFF?

Dandruff is the result of a fungus microscopic name malassezia. This feeds the natural fat of the scalp, it consumes-resulting in a drier skin and flaking. However, this peeling can be aggravated by other factors, internal or external, including:

  • Water cálcária
  • Power unbalanced
  • Are brushings successive
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Fatigue
  • Moisture
  • Pollution
  • Aggressive products
  • Psoriasis
  • Seborrhea
  • Stress

OTHER PLACES WHERE YOU CAN HAVE DANDRUFF

Dandruff arises not only in the scalp, it can also appear on ears, the face, the beard, the eyelashes and the eyebrow. We remind you that, to treat any type of dandruff, the ideal is to always consult your doctor or dermatologist.

Ears: avoid hot showers and prefer products based on sulphur or lotions with steroids.

Face: wash your face daily with just water and soap. Products with alcohol can aggravate the problem.

Beard: the ideal is to shave cm frequency once the hair on the face can aggravate the symptoms.

Eyebrows: wash, daily, the eyebrows with water and shampoo neutral. The cold, the stress and fatty foods can aggravate the symptoms.
HOW TO TREAT DANDRUFF?

Dandruff is not a sentence to life and, with some daily care, you can control the inflammation. For this, dermatologists recommend to be used on a regular basis, a campô queratolítico and antifungal (LHA™ queratolítico lipophilic, piroctona-olamine). In the case of dandruff more aggressive, it may be necessary to apply lotions antifúngicas (ketoconazole, ciclopiroxolamine) or treatments with corticosteroids to treat the inflammation.

To treat dandruff, it is important to choose products suitable to your hair and protect and respect the natural characteristics of the scalp, and which complies with the following:

  • Avoid products and gestures and aggressive that cause the damage to the hair
  • Maintain a good hygiene
  • Wash your hair frequently – the flaking worsens the symptoms, if I have to wash every day
  • Use a shampoo suited to your type of dandruff
  • Lather your hair two times to let the shampoo act for some minutes in the second
  • Have balanced diet

In any case, if you have dandruff persistent, which is unable to treat with the usual antidandruff shampoos available in supermarkets and pharmacies, see a dermatologist.
